All I made it one more step closer to my final goal this wk. I passed my second journeymen's test. The next step will be getting over there somehow and working the bugs out out of the design process for boots. I figure that is better than trying things and taking slow way through the learning curve. We’ll see if I can find a way. I can’t tell you how well I slept Thurs. night after a four day test. I must admit that I have been angry because I have lost precious time to butt holes in the branch that thought they could teach me “the old fashion way”. I have had several masters and teacher that thought being tough was the way. Jakob let me think about things he explained and didn’t mind telling me again and again because I ‘m slow to understand. He has not kept me inside the usual perimeters of the trade divisions in DK. Breakfast is ready, ya’ll take care CW Cobbler Orth. shoe maker |

CW, Congratulations! Is there anything after this next step, and what are your plans after you are done? |

Mark Thanks Once everything starts to settle here, I can see if I can take a trip home to learn from a bootmaker. That will have to waite while we work on my father-in-law's house. He died a few days before my test started. Now we have to get the house ready to be sold. I'll start ordering tools this wk so I have what I need here at home. Everything will have to be done by hand until I start a company up or find a job with somebody else. The guys in my sword group have been hoping I'd be unemployed. The first step will be prototypes of ideas I have and then try to see if people will pay the price for them. DK is known for having people that will not pay more than 20 bucks for shoes. That is why some british shoe companies have not opened stores here. I'll try to stay with hobby groups like line dancers, western riders, the sword group, and re-enactors and the police. They tend to use more money on things. Breakfast is on the table again. CW |
