...here are some reduced re-posts of boot tops and inlays I have recently done. There is also a camera strap I made myself for Christmas.

Wow. May I ask about the technique you used for the flower decorated boots? What leather, which tools, paint? If it is not secret..

...these tops are carved on 2-3oz cowhide, using various stamping tools. They are all colored with spirit dayes...not paint.

TOOLED TOPS BY TRAVIS STILLSON
...here is a photo of the finest Sheridan style tooling I have seen. The detail and flow of design, is the trademark of the work Travis does. His phone number is 940 665 6965

NEW INLAYS
...here are some new inlays that will appear in a chocolate calf background. The original photo is shown at left and the uncolored carving at right. The colors were altered by request...the foliage was not required so the subjects were more featured. These were colored with spirit dyes.

PHOTO ALBUM

...here is a photo album just completed. It is made from 2-3oz leather, with turned edges, and has goatskin lining the (padded) covers. The spine has a cover, and the screws that hold the pages are concealed on the inside. It is all carved inverted style, and is colored with spirit dyes.
...I have put a cardboard 'spacer' between every third plastic sleeve....this will eliminate the pages fanning out when photos are added, allowing the folder to always lay flat.

NEW CARVED INLAYS
...here are some boot-top inlays just completed. The design was sent to me...unfortunately only for a 'right' side. This meant re-drawing it so the guitar player did not appear left-handed on the left panel.

This was a good exercise in cutting very fine parallel lines (no, not with a beader blade) and keeping the coloring 'within the lines'. The darker areas are 'backgrounded' and the lighter areas have beveled edges (beveled with 'that' modeling tool).

These inlays will be set into a light olive green leather with outer stitching lines following the scrolls. I will post completed boots in August.New inlays

Peter,
I have always admired you work...You are a real artist and tooler. I am from the old school and to me it is tooling. But you can call it carving! I like the abstract guitar player and the horse and dog are cool too. I am a guitar player and I appreciate the design....TR
