What do you folks suggest for the care of snake skin? I'm want to start using snake skin for the outer cover of wallets and checkbook covers so I have some concern about the scales rubbing off from the daily in and out of pocket wear and tear. |

Randy, I personally never had much luck with snake skin, years back I had a pair of boots, wallet and belt made of python . In a matter of weeks the scales on the boots and belt turned yellow from the UV rays. The scales lifted off the belt quite quickly, the wallet and belt got blue stains the first day I used them, from my britches. You would probably be better off using ostrich or gator, it would probably be a little more resilant. Joey Sanchez sells ostrich and gator scraps which would probably work well for wallets and chequebooks. That's my input, for what it's worth. Daniel |

Daniel and All, I have wondered what the leather would be like if they ever caught Okopogo, the lake monster. I believe it is near you Daniel. There would be one big piece of leather and hold up better than Python. Richard |
